Staffing Without the Stress

We provide a dedicated agency and bank staffing service for hospitals, care homes, secure units, rehabilitation services, and community settings that need additional support at short notice or for planned cover.

Whether you’re managing increased demand, complex needs, staff absence, or emergency situations, we provide skilled, compassionate staff who are prepared, briefed, and ready to integrate smoothly into your service.

Our focus is on reducing pressure, maintaining safety, and ensuring continuity of care — even when circumstances change quickly.

How It Works

  • Woman with brown hair working at a white desk, talking on the phone, with an iMac computer and notebooks. There are potted plants and large window showing a green grassy yard outside.

    Tell Us What You Need

You let us know the role, skills required, shift times, location, and any specific considerations.

  • A woman with dark hair in a bun uses a knife to cut a blindfolded man's head while he is seated in a motorized wheelchair indoors in front of large windows showing a backyard.

    We Match the Right Person

Staff are selected based on qualifications, experience, and personality fit — not just availability.

  • Two children in safety helmets and harnesses standing on crates in a warehouse, holding onto a climbing rope, smiling at the camera.

    Ongoing Support

We stay involved throughout the placement, with regular check-ins and 24-hour on-call support to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Peace of Mind

Before a shift begins, we can share a clear staff profile, including:

  • Photo

  • DBS status

  • Training completed

  • Relevant experience

So you know exactly who is coming and what they bring.

Training for Complex Environments

All agency staff meet industry standards and complete a comprehensive programme of mandatory training, with many holding or working towards NVQ/QCF qualifications in Health & Social Care.

Beyond this, many of our staff bring additional experience and training in areas such as:

  • Managing distressed or challenging behaviour

  • Epilepsy and Buccal Midazolam

  • Autism, dementia, and mental health support

Where required, we also provide nurse-led clinical training, including:

  • PEG care

  • Stoma management

  • Tracheostomy support

This ensures staff are confident, competent, and able to support complex needs safely and reliably.

  • A meeting room with four people, two women and two men, attending a presentation. One man is standing and pointing at a large screen displaying pie charts. The attendees are working on laptops.

    Ongoing Quality & Wellbeing

Our staff are supported through regular supervision, spot checks, and refresher training. They also have access to 24-hour on-call and debrief support, recognising that good care relies on well-supported people.

We carry out quarterly Quality Assurance reviews, helping us maintain high standards and strong working relationships with services we support.

  • A promotional table for StepsAhead Care & Support with a large logo and slogan on a white tablecloth. Behind are a man in a grey sweater and a woman in black, standing next to a colorful backdrop with the same logo. The table has brochures, small bags, a framed sign, and a bottle, with a purple-covered table on the right.

    Dedicated Relationship Managers

You’ll have a single point of contact who takes time to understand your service, team culture, routines, and expectations.

Our Relationship Managers offer continuity — not just shift-filling — helping ensure each placement fits well within your environment.

  • Woman working at a desk in an office, talking on the phone and smiling, with a large monitor, keyboard, and framed photo on the windowsill, and a whiteboard on the wall.

    Clear, Responsive Communication

We pride ourselves on being easy to work with. We aim to make contact within ten minutes of receiving a staffing request, followed by clear written confirmation so you know who is attending and when.

Where appropriate, a Care Manager will visit your service in person to build understanding, trust, and long-term partnership.

  • Two women sitting inside a vehicle, smiling and holding VIP badges with the Longleat lion logo, indicating they are visitors at Longleat.

    Consistency You Can Rely On

By getting to know your service, we’re able to offer familiar faces wherever possible. This consistency reduces disruption, supports clients, and strengthens confidence in every shift we cover.

Reliable people. Clear communication. Specialist support when it matters most.
