Beyond the Mandatory Essentials

The Management of Actual or Potential Aggression (MAPA) training programme is certified by BILD-ACT under the Restraint Reduction Training Standard.

This training is delivered in-house by our TRiM practitioner and fully qualified MAPA Instructor, Matt. MAPA is designed to enhance a trainee’s understanding and management knowledge of disruptive, aggressive and/or violent behaviour. This course aims to ensure everyone involved in crisis situations can maintain the care, welfare, safety and security of all involved by providing strategies and skills to the trainees.

MAPA's Underpinning Values and Philosophy

  • A person is demonstrating a patient lift with assistance from two healthcare workers in a room with large windows and blinds, all wearing face masks and protective gear.

    Care

Demonstrating respect, dignity and empathy by providing a non-judgemental and person-centred way of crisis management.

  • Close-up of two hands clasped together, one with light skin and the other with darker skin, showing a gold ring on the darker-skinned person's finger.

    Welfare

Providing emotional and physical support while always acting in the person’s best interest.

  • Two young women with harnesses and helmets smiling and posing on stacked green crates, appearing to be participating in a team-building activity or workshop in an indoor setting.

    Safety

Protecting rights, safeguarding, reducing and managing risk to minimise injury or harm.

  • Two women taking a selfie near a body of water, with a clear sky and distant shoreline in the background.

    Security

Maintaining safe, effective, and therapeutic working relationships that rely on collaboration.

A woman is helping a man in a wheelchair undergo a medical or therapeutic procedure involving a tube or fabric stretched over his eyes inside a room with large windows, a patio, and wooden fencing outside.

Person-Centred Learning

Matt will spend time with the client, and all involved in their care to enable him to tailor a person-centred training programme, while remaining in line with the MAPA framework. This enables us to train the client's staff team with personalised skills and strategies to ensure the best possible outcome for all involved.
